Frequently Asked Question
What Is the History Of SCORM?
To meet the rising demand for eLearning course materials, SCORM was developed in the late 1990s as a standard eLearning courseware file format by Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL).
SCORM has been a leading e-learning standard that provides detailed specifications for integrating online training, allowing organizations to convert existing courses into industry-standard web-based content packages, making them available “over the wire” and delivering them efficiently from any learning management system provider supports SCORM.
SCORM is a fully compliant SCORM 1.2 product, meaning it includes complete SCO functionality, including administrative capabilities such as Check-In/Check-Out, SCO data tracking and storage, SCO event reporting, SCO course completion reporting, SCORM 1.2 SCO status queries, SCORM 2004 SCOs, semantic versions 3 and 4 SCOs, SCORM 2004 results extraction (reporting), SCORM 2004 result storage (reporting), SCORM 2004 action/result input parameters (reporting) and more SCORM SCO capabilities.
SCORM also provides a standard eLearning courseware file format, which allows for interoperability between systems and easy courseware creation and publishing. SCORN adheres to SCORM specification 1.2 and SCORM 2004 specifications and SCORM semantic versions 3 and 4. This makes SCORM an excellent choice for any learning management system that is SCORM compatible.
